KATHRYN DOHERTY
A designer for over 25 years, and partnering with her husband Phillip for almost as long, Kathryn’s career initially had a graphic emphasis and included corporate jobs such as art director for CBS Publications and in the creative department of Unilever. A year living in Bologna, Italy while redesigning the printed material for the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies, preceded the official begining of Doherty & Doherty with offices in New York and Greenwich, Connecticut. After their daughter was born, they built a home studio, moving the office to their residence in Cos Cob, where they still work today. While Phillip continues to direct the graphic division, Kathryn’s departure from illustration into hand-painted ceramics led to designs for home furnishings products and accessories. This outgrowth and extension of the core business has benefited from being rooted in the original firm.

MICHELLE SYMEONIDES
Throughout my career, I've done beading, enamel jewelry, pottery, metal fabrication, enamel jewelry, collage and textiles. I studied Textile design and silk painting In France in the '90s using pure pigment dyes and silks to create kimono in the traditional Japanese style—pop art wall hangings, pillows and upholstery fabrics in more traditional styles. I challenge myself and switch 'flavors' when I design. I enjoy working in porcelain and stoneware, making vessels with various textures glazes and shapes. I love to work with color, pattern and, balance in my designs, finding my inspiration from nature to architecture.

PHYL SCHOCK
As a child in North Dakota, I drew all of the time. I earned my degree in art education at Moorhead State University, then worked in sales, but supported my art by painting at night and on weekends. My art is shown in galleries in the Midwest. Over the years I've worked on various licensing project, and rug design is one of my favorites—pure design pleasure. A friend once told me that it's important to appreciate the small, everyday things; and I gravitate toward the beauty in the ordinary.
