Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright
Every genius has an inspiration; every artist a muse. Frank Lloyd Wright’s passion for the natural world and the ideas of democracy are deeply imbedded in his architectural and interior designs. Known for great buildings like the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, and the Johnson Wax Building, Wright’s renown sits squarely on his 600 residential designs represented by landmark homes including Fallingwater and his own Taliesin and Taliesin West. Wright designed furniture, windows, textiles, and other interior elements to complement a house’s exterior and to bring the natural world into every room. Copeland Furniture shares Wright’s passion for the natural world, his appreciation for simple, beautiful furnishings, his insistence that excellent design be part of every home. As the exclusive licensee of Frank Lloyd Wright's furniture designs, Copeland appreciates the importance of maintaining his design legacy. Every piece of Frank Lloyd Wright® Furniture by Copeland is named for the house it was originally designed for and bears Wright’s signature, date of manufacture, and unique serial number.

About Copeland Furniture at LifeStyles Furniture:
LifeStyles Furniture is pleased to announce the addition of Copeland Furniture to our family of high quality bedroom furnishings. Copeland Furniture manufacturers their furniture in Bradford, Vermont in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and use only the highest quality woods such as cherry, maple and walnut. Copeland Furniture is also committed to the environment and offer their products with a water born, formaldehyde free finish upon request. Every bit as durable as their traditional catalyzed lacquer with greatly reduced VOC emissions at the factory and off-gassing at the home. Copeland Furniture uses sustainably harvested hardwoods from the American Northern Forest. Their lumber comes from within a 500 mile range of their factory and Copeland works with their suppliers who are FSC certified that offer lumber only from forests that are not threatened, do not have a high conservation significance and do not contain genetically modified trees. Copeland takes great pride in the quality of the environment and preserving the natural beauty of forests through responsible sourcing and stewardship of these natural resources.
Careful drying, machining, and preparation
-
Hand-wiped stains and durable finishes
-
Copeland Furniture combines precision-planed glue surfaces, calibrated hydraulic pressure, and radio frequency-assisted curing to ensure consistently superior, enduring glue joints. Select solid hardwoods such as oak, cherry and walnut are made available in various Copeland and Frank Lloyd Wright collections.
Labor-intensive hand-rubbing incorporates stain pigments and highlights grain definition in each piece. Copeland Furniture uses only catalyzed lacquer finishes that meet the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's high standards. They withstand tough stains and age beautifully.
Superior drawer construction
-
English dovetails
-
Drawers, with sides of solid ash and bottoms of birch plywood, are fully finished. They are mounted on wood-on-wood slides—one on each side and at the center—and are fitted with Copeland Furniture's drawer stops. Copeland also dovetails drawer dividers—rare in furniture today.
Asymmetrical English dovetails form perfiect, rigid fits for drawer and case pieces. Copeland makes these intricate cuts utilizing precise, computer-programmed machining.
Miter-wrap construction
-
Copeland has revived miter-wrap construction techniques that were used in Wright's day for tabletops that present two inches or more at the edge—enabling the wood grain from the top to continue over ends and sides. A bold sturdy tabletop cut from thick hardwood and using wooworking techniques that are all but forgotten today to achieve a piece of furniture that is simply timeless.
