American Leather is a founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council, a non-profit organization created to promote sustainable practices in the furniture industry. Here are other key ways in which they work everyday to make their products and their factory more environmentally friendly. Frames - All wood used in their furniture is harvested from sustainable forests. They recycle over two million pounds of leftover wood. American Leather also use recycled and scrap hardwood using an innovative technology to repurpose the wood. They recycle their wood, but not use recycled wood for frames Glues are chemical-free, water-based binders. They use water-based glue that doesn't contain or release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Leather - All leather is dyed using water-based solvents and pigments. American Leather offers 35 environmentally friendly, biogradeable leathers made through natural, chrome free, chemical free processes. Cushions - Their cushioning includes soy-based foam cushioning, which is fully recyclable and available in a wide assortment of firmness and densities. To help prevent ozone layer damage, they use high- density and high-resiliency foam that's free of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). Factory - Their factory conserves energy with automatic light shut-offs and they encourage employees to recycle and to use non-disposable water cups and coffee cups instead of Styrofoam or paper products. Their furniture is manufactured in Dallas, Texas. Since none of their products travel across an ocean, they can arrive faster and with a smaller carbon footprint than imported goods. American Leather provides a limited lifetime warranty on the frame and suspension of our furniture. *American Leather also warrants furniture to be free of defects in workmanship and materials, other than frame and suspension, for five years from the date of purchase. * All sleeper and recliner mechanisms are under warranty for three years from the date of purchase. Defects in workmanship and materials are defined, for the purpose of this warranty, as causing the product to be unsound structurally or mechanically, or altering the appearance of the piece substantially. This warranty applies under conditions of normal usage and does not apply to defects resulting from misuse, accidents, negligence or normal wear. If a defect is found in the product, American Leather will repair or replace, at its option, the defective workmanship or material. American Leather reserves the right to arrange local repair, and the cost of packing and shipping to and from factory is not covered by the warranty unless expressly arranged by American Leather. Our warranty is nontransferable. In the unlikely event that a warranty concern does occur, the original owner should make claims through the retailer where the product was purchased, or through a retailer authorized by American Leather. A dated sales receipt, or other proof of purchase, should be submitted at this time.
