Who is Oriental Weavers?

The company was established by Egyptian businessman Mohamed Farid Khamis in 1979. The Middle East has a rich tradition in the design and construction of high-end area rugs. Through Mr. Khamis' direction the company would begin to assemble craftspeople with generations of experience in which to create the many vibrant and colorful rug designs available today. Through several ambitious factory innovations such as fiber extrusion and wool fiber processing facilities in the 1980's Oriental Weavers began moving towards modern design area rugs. In 1988 they opened their first USA showroom with products licensed through Sphinx USA. Today Oriental Weavers currently ships their high end area rugs to six different continents and more than 150 countries.
